Dianthus alpinus are commonly known as 'alpine pinks'. They are part of the 'caryophyllaceae' family of plants and originate from Central Europe and the Alps. They are highly scented and generally flower over long periods from early summer until autumn. They usually grow 6/12cm 3/5" tall and are ideal for containers, troughs, rock gardens and for front borders and pathways. They need to be grown in a sunny position in free draining neutral or alkaline soils.
